Previously on LOST [Recap for 1.02 "Pilot, Part 2" HERE]: We added Sawyer to our list of known names [but not until he read "the letter" for the first time]. Locke spoke his very first lines [to Walt], through which we were given a big, fat, red herring theme [Good v. Evil] for the show. We also learned Walt’s mom died recently [and he's not to upset about it]. Claire felt the baby move for the first time since the crash. Our Transceiver Signal Posse [TSP] trekked to Mountain Meadow, but not before they kill a polar bear [Sawyer], and we [and maybe Kate] learn that Shrapnel Man is the marshal, and Kate was his handcuffed prisoner. TSP does get a signal, but it’s a looped distress call/message by a French woman that’s been playing for 16 years [according to Sayid's mental math].
Names of our losties we know so far: Jack, Kate, Charlie, Sayid, Boone, Shannon, Walt, Vincent and Sawyer. NOTE: We still don’t know ANYONE’S last name.

Chapter 4: Flash “Sideways” and “Moving On/Leaving”
Previously in Amy’s Viewing Guide:
In Chapter 4, we’ll dig into the purpose of the flash sideways world its importance to our losties by “The End.”
In Chapter 1, we discussed a few of the basic elements of storytelling on LOST and how “Everything is real,” (but not physically real) and how this constructed (restricted by available resources) is developed. In Chapter 2, we discussed how our losties experience the world of LOST — one experience at a time in the order WE SEE it in the show. There’s no time travel, and there’s no external timeline (nothing WE SEE happens to our losties before Jack opens his eye in “Pilot” or after he closes it in “The End”).
In Chapter 3, we’ll be examining character and how character development works in the island and flash worlds.
Let’s talk about identity.
I really enjoyed recapping this week’s episode. Be sure to look out for Amy’s Recap too! They are mind blowing! This was the episode of Lost that hooked me. Sure, the Pilot was amazing but this was the story that really took me over. I was drawn to Kate in the Pilot from the moment she sewed up Jack. She is my favorite character. And it was very interesting to learn her story. This flashback-type storytelling had never really been done before and it kind of amazed me when I realized that this was how the story was going to go.
Kate’s story was intriguing. You know she did something bad but you can also tell that she is a sweet and caring person. She doesn’t seem “dangerous” on the island and the fact that she gets caught because she was saving Ray (again, with the fake arm? haha) shows that she isn’t really some ruthless fugitive. I really liked how they presented the two sides, light and dark, within the characters. Really great storytelling. It was really cool to see this dark side of Kate. She was such a different person in the beginning than she was in the end. It seems like she really took what Jack said to her at the end of the episode to heart.
Jack: “Three days ago we all died. We should all be able to start over.”
Tabula Rasa: Latin – blank slate.

Amy’s LOST Rewatch Recap of Episode 1.02 – “Pilot, Part 2″
Previously on LOST [Recap for 1.01 "Pilot" HERE] : In our first episode, we were introduced to most of our losties. The names we know so far are: Jack, Kate, Charlie, Sayid, Boone, Shannon and Walt (technically, we know Vincent’s name too). In our very first episode of LOST, Jack woke up, found the crash, saved a bunch of people, found Kate, and sat around half nekkid lookin’ pretty darn good while Kate sewed him up. Our losties also learned that 1) there is something big and scary and deadly in the jungle and 2) they are screwed as far as rescue is concerned. Jack’s discussion with Kate yielded the first “flashback” – His experience of plane trouble. In it we saw Cindy, Rose Charlie and a bit of John Locke. Jack, Kate and Charlie find the fuselage, chat doomed rescue with the “survived the crash for exactly 5 minutes” pilot, freaked when said pilot was slaughtered by “the monster” soon to be known as “Smokey,” and dumped in a tree.
