Ready to start putting it all together? This post is the first stop on the “Amy, Just Tell Us The Answers!” gravy train! I live to serve, my lovely LOST readers, so here it is: everything I’m thinking, episode by episode, about what’s going on on LOST. Ummmmmm. Gravy – I have to brag:  These [...]

Okay ya’ll, let’s back the fun truck up. [WOOT!] FYI: From now on, let’s call Charlie in the FLASH “fCharlie” and Charlie on the ISLAND “iCharlie.” It will make things simpler in the long run. So far in this episode [minus Sayid's Transceiver Signal Posse II's early activities]: iCharlie [with guitar] is jonesin’. Locke calls [...]

Previously on LOST: Kate and Jack shamelessly flirt and get NOWHERE. Sun remembers when Jin loved her. She also remembers English and keeps her husband from frying in the sun. Charlie diverts Locke’s attention with bee stings and drug use. Jack and Kate rip off their clothes and discover “Adam and Eve.” Jack finds and [...]

Previously on LOST: Boone gets rescued, then gets pissy, then does something stupid and gets rescued again. Kate/Charlie tend/bond to Claire (while Jack is in the jungle). Locke pulls a mysterious pop-up rescue and counsels Jack: “A leader can’t lead until he knows where he’s going.” Jack finds out his dad is “gone/dead.” By the [...]

Previously on LOST:  Boars invaded the beach, Claire had a funeral, Jack sat with Rose, Kate dropped the antenna, Sayid pitched a minor fit, and Locke (first name JOHN), led his first hunt, bagged his first kill and had a little one-on-one time with Smokey. John gets bumped off of the walkabout bus because —- da-da-dum — he was in a wheelchair. We see John Locke’s miracle at the plane crash.

NAMES OF OUR LOSTIES WE KNOW SO FAR: Jack, Kate, Charlie, Sayid, Boone, Shannon, Walt, Vincent, Sawyer, Sun,  Claire, John Locke, Rose, Bernard, and Michael.

We still don’t know:  Jin’s name or anyone’s last name except for Locke.

A loud thump/rattling noise simultaneous with a brown (right ) eye opening — blood on a small wound on the right eyebrow. A boy, about 11 or 12, with dark eyes, dark hair and freckles lies flat on the asphalt, blinks at the sky and gasps for air.  [WATCH CAREFULLY - the boy on the ground blinks ALONG with the first two or three punches. Then he blinks just off the sounds, but in the same intervals. It's almost like he's still reacting to the sound of the blows, but not in relation to when WE hear them.] A teenager  [Jerky] stands over him. They both look right.

A blond boy up against a chain link fence is getting pummeled (with steady, loud, left-handed blows to the gut) by Jerky’s buddy. [The school bus behind the fence tells us this little party is taking place on or near school property.]  The boy on the ground and Blondie trade looks.  Blondie silently suffers (mouthing a few words) and pleads for help. Jerky looks down at the boy.

  • Jerky: It’s your choice, man. Walk away now, and you won’t get your ass kicked.

The boy on the ground watches the blond kid suffer a few more punches [IN FACT, it totally looks like he FEELS that FIRST punch.  WATCH his body and the expression on his face]. He gets mad.  He whips to his feet and heads for Blondie.  Jerky grabs his shoulder and spins him around.

  • Jerky: Should’ve stayed down, Jack!

Previously on LOST [Recap for 1.03 - "Tabula Rasa" HERE]: Our Transceiver Signal Posse rehashed Eps. 1.01-1.02 and decided to keep their findings a secret. The marshal gave Jack a copy of Kate’s mug shot. Kate “remembered” hanging out at Farmer Ray’s Farm. Jack got all huffy when Kate suggested putting the marshal down. The marshal/Kate “remembered” Kate’s capture and the plane ride. Sawyer bungled shooting the marshal. Jack smothered him. Jack tells Kate “Three days ago we all died.” Locke found Vincent and creeped us all out for the first time.

NAMES OF OUR LOSTIES WE KNOW SO FAR: Jack, Kate, Charlie, Sayid, Boone, Shannon, Walt, Vincent, Sawyer, Sun,  and MR. LOCKE.  Notice we know NO ONE ELSE’S LAST NAME, and we don’t know LOCKE’S first name.

Get this:  So who thinks it’s weird we first learn Locke’s name when Walt calls him Mr. Locke?  Anybody remember another lostie we meet this way?  That’s right! Mr. EKO.

VIEWER ASSIGNMENT – JOHN/LOCKE

Before we begin, let’s develop our plan of attack.  By the end of this episode, we know that the wheelchair that’s been popping up the past few episodes is Locke’s and that he was in it when he was in Australia (we presume before he was on Oceanic 815 — but WATCH YOUR ASSUMPTIONS).  When we see him up on his feet, just after the crash, he’s amazed and thrilled he’s no longer paralyzed. [This is one of the most AMAZING moments in the entire show: Many kudos to Jack Bender and Terry O'Quinn!].

Our first assignment for his episode is to look for all the ways Team LOST hinted at the truth about Locke’s pre-crash condition the ENTIRE show [Twilight Zone/"The Sixth Sense" style].

Previously on LOST [Recap for 1.02 "Pilot, Part 2" HERE]: We added Sawyer to our list of known names [but not until he read "the letter" for the first time]. Locke spoke his very first lines [to Walt], through which we were given a big, fat, red herring theme [Good v. Evil] for the show. We also learned Walt’s mom died recently [and he's not to upset about it]. Claire felt the baby move for the first time since the crash. Our Transceiver Signal Posse [TSP] trekked to Mountain Meadow, but not before they kill a polar bear [Sawyer], and we [and maybe Kate] learn that Shrapnel Man is the marshal, and Kate was his handcuffed prisoner. TSP does get a signal, but it’s a looped distress call/message by a French woman that’s been playing for 16 years [according to Sayid's mental math].

Names of our losties we know so far: Jack, Kate, Charlie, Sayid, Boone, Shannon, Walt, Vincent and Sawyer. NOTE: We still don’t know ANYONE’S last name.

This entry is part 1 of 2 in the series Amy's LOST Rewatch Recaps

WELCOME to LOST REWATCH!

My name is Amy, and I’ll be one of your friendly neighborhood Snappy Recappers from LOSTblog.com!   Each week during rewatch, I’ll post an “Amy style” recap of every episode of LOST with observations and brief analyses.  Make sure to check out weekly recaps from Erin, too!

PLEASE NOTE:  If you are watching LOST for the FIRST time, and you want to AVOID SPOILERS for future season/shows, this is NOT the recap for you. I’ll be making all kinds of connections from all six seasons as I see them.

SEASON 6 Recaps

RECAP MENU

Come one, come all and gather ’round for Amy’s first official recap for LOSTblog!

NOTE: Mock Locke is my term for the new Locke in town. I do not announce: back at the plane, back on the island, etc. when I run down the scenes. I’ve got a good reason for this. Trust me! I’m resisting adding a lot of my own theory to the recap, but I will be doing the aohora “Things I Noticed” pretty soon.

Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy!

When we last left our losties (oh so MANY months ago):

Things were not good.

Juliet was smacking the bomb at the bottom of big hole Razinsky had been drilling into the ground (before everything went all uber magnet crazy, Stephen King style), Jack and Kate were dragging a distraught Sawyer away from the site, Hurley and Miles were at the Dharma van watching Sayid bleed to death (gunshot wound to the gut), Richard and posse were standing (on the beach next to the statue) over Locke’s dead body (hand-delivered by Illana and her merry band of droogs), while Mock Locke (under the statue) stood over Jacob’s bleeding body (courtesy of Ben’s “You never paid any attention to me when I was a kid, and now you’re gonna pay for it with your life” stab wounds). Jacob whispered, through the gross and goopy blood in his mouth, that “They’re coming.” Mock Locke registered the message and kicked Jacob’s dying body into the weird eternal flame looking thing in the middle of the floor.

Final Scene: A broken, bloody Juliet keeps smacking and cursing the bomb until: Cool end-of-LOST slamming door noise. Cut to

A white screen. Black letters read: “LOST.”

End LOST Season 5

And for NINE LONG MONTHS LOST fans have waited (and waited and WAITED) and wondered:

  1. Did the bomb exploding prevent the Swan Hatch from ever being built, consequently preventing Oceanic 815 from ever crashing to the island, erasing the last 5 years of the show? (reset theory)
  2. Did the bomb exploding split our losties’ existence into parallel universes where during season 6 we’ll see what continues to happen to them on the island AND what could have happened if they’d landed safely in LA? (alternate time line)
  3. Who’s coming?
  4. How on Earth did Jack survive getting clocked in the head by that flying red toolbox?

Begin LOST Season 6 (YAY!)
