Prehash: Dr. Linus
by Jon on Mar.08, 2010, under Articles, By Fans, For Fans, Jon
Well, here we are starting the second trimester of the birth of the final episode of LOST. What does that have to do with anything? To be determined. (Just keeping my options open) I appreciate the feedback I’ve gotten on my pre-hashes on twitter, and dashed off some homework for people wanting to rewatch some episodes prior to episode 7 of season 6, titled according to my Verizon TV guide, Dr. Linus. Again this post is spoiler free, I haven’t seen or read any, I just caught a glimpse of the sneak peak that ABC posted on their site, and I’ll claim the @DonaldJr exemption that the show isn’t a spoiler. I won’t dish on what the sneak peek shows here, I’ll leave it to each or your tolerance for what’s to come.
So here’s my list of episodes that were worth reviewing for what appears to be a Benjamin Linus episode:
Sundown, Otherwise Known as Order 66
by Scott on Mar.03, 2010, under Analysis, Articles, By Fans, For Fans, Recaps, Scott
Each week I have been getting a more and more Star Wars vibe from LOST as the story is unfolding in season 6 (even the fact that there are six seasons-one for each Star Wars movie). Last week, Hurley made a comment that Jacob comes and goes like Obi Wan Kenobi. I immediately went back to THE INCIDENT where Jacob allowed himself to be killed, much like the real Obi Wan Kenobi. I could imagine him telling MIB, “Strike me down and I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.”
In LIGHTHOUSE we see “Obi Wan” Jacob appearing to “Luke” Hurley Skywalker who is trying to convince Han “Jack”
Solo of the existence of both Jacob and the Force. In SUNDOWN, more Star Wars connections for me. As we watched the conversation between Sayid and Flocke, my wife said, “This sounds a lot like Palpatine talking with Anakin.” You know the whole, “I know a way to save Padmay from death” speech? Of course in this case Padmay is Nadia. Then Emporer Flocke gives his new apprenctice “Order 66″. This is the order in “Revenge of the Sith” where all Jedis are commaded to be killed. So what does Sayid do? He goes all Anakin in the Jedi Temple on us and is responsible for the death of many of the Others/Jedis….even the padawons.
This might be a crazy thought, but it sure is fun. The war has started and it can only end once.
Better than a snowman: A #Lost snow sculpture!

Pop reader Tom G. enjoyed this week’s blizzard more than most people on the East Coast. How? For starters, he actually left the house and went to New York’s Central Park. There, he and his roommate created what’s quite possibly the most awesome snow sculpture/Lost tribute:
Tom calls it the “Four-Snowed Statue.” For all of you still battling several feet of white stuff outside your front doors, I hope this is somewhat inspiring.

Matthew Fox Gets #Lost: Leaves LA For Oregon Wilderness
by Tina on Feb.10, 2010, under Articles, Interviews
Although LOST star Matthew Fox has enjoyed his time shooting the popular series in and around the Hawaiian islands, the 43-year-old is really looking forward to getting away from it all.
The actor last year purchased a little over 10 acres up on Broken Top, a long dormant volcano near Bend, Oregon. The area resides within the Three Sisters Wilderness, which makes up 242,000 acres of the Willamette National Forest. Fox, who grew up on a farm in Wyoming, said he loves the wide open beauty of isolation. “We didn’t have neighbors or anything like that,” he told Seven Magazine. “I think I did feel isolated, but in a good way. That’s remained very important to me. I really need those wide open spaces and feelings of loneliness, I can hear myself better there.”
“When I’m in Los Angeles I just can’t f***ing wait to get out of it. The traffic and everything just drives me nuts.” (continue reading…)
Hiro Sanada: Lost’s Temple Boss #lost
by Tina on Feb.09, 2010, under Articles, DocArzt, For Fans, Interviews
from IGN
Those of you who saw Hiroyuki Sanada’s new character on last week’s season premiere of Lost might have recognized the actor from such English-language films as The Last Samurai, Sunshine and Rush Hour 3. But Sanada’s career actually spans over 40 years, and Japanese projects such as The Twilight Samurai, The Ring and Detective Zame have made him a household name in Japan and garnered him international acclaim.
IGN TV: Were you a fan of Lost before you joined the show?
Hiroyuki Sanada: Yeah, of course. I haven’t watched all of the episodes, but most of them. But yeah, I was a big fan.
Lost In Music

Lost in music: songs inspired by the series
Meet Sonic Weapon Fence, The Oceanic Six and Previously on Lost – but why aren’t bands inspired by any other shows
Lost isn’t a particularly musical television programme. Although Michael Giacchino’s score can be touching at times, the show doesn’t even have a proper theme tune. In fact, the nearest thing is probably Charlie Pace’s fictional hit You All Everybody – a song so astoundingly cloddish and misshapen that the thought of his band, Drive Shaft, becoming successful in any meaningful way requires more suspension of disbelief than the smoke monster, the time travelling and the nuclear bomb put together.
But just because Lost itself isn’t very musical, it doesn’t mean that its fans are similarly affected. Over the past couple of years, a number of bands have been formed with the sole intention of writing and performing songs purely about Lost. Los Angeles has The Oceanic Six, an electronic outfit with songs called things like Mr Eko and Dude. New York has Previously On Lost, whose Be My Constant and Wherever Sun Go (I Go) sound like early Babybird demos. And then there’s Chicago’s Sonic Weapon Fence.

New Theories Blog by Mulderism

I am very happy to report that the warm and wonderful woman that so many of us know as @Mulderism on Twitter, Djuna Rykiel, has started up a new LOST theories blog called “lostrithm.” If you know Djuna at all you know that she is extremely thoughtful and deep, and you’ll see the same in her blog. When asked about it Djuna replies:
Still tweaking, still updating. As I mention on the blog, the past theories will be linked to specific livejournal entries to honour the time stamp. The newest entries will deal with fleshed out theories. Promise no spoilers. It’s always light-hearted speculation.
lostrithm is definitely worth a look, so go check it out! Congratulations and thanks, Djuna!
UK Viewing Figures for LA X
by tomwilson23 on Feb.06, 2010, under Analysis, Articles, Lost News & Analysis, Tom
I’m sure the Americans readers are aware Lost’s season 6 opener LA X was shown here in Britain last night.
Digital Spy have posted the viewing figures……. ‘The return of Lost for its final season was a ratings success for Sky1 last night, according to early figures….. ‘The first two episodes of season six, which revealed what happened after Juliet attempted to detonate the bomb, pulled in audiences of 830k (3.4%) and 728k (3.7%) from 9pm’.
For a satellite channel which Sky1 is these numbers are pretty good but not great, for example Glee’s latest episode was watched by 1.1 million on E4 but 24 on Sky1 also only had 671k for it’s latest episode. Despite this mixed news the critical reviews in the papers & websites here have all been extremely positive.
Multiversity Comics: #LOST – 6×01 & 6×02 – “LA X #comics
by Tina on Feb.04, 2010, under Analysis, Articles, By Fans, For Fans
Editor’s Note: Without a doubt, I would say that LOST is the biggest show on television. When I say that, I’m not talking about all those crummy reality shows and game shows. I’m talking good, honest to God, quality entertainment, with a staff of great writers, a terrific crew, a fantastic cast, and excellent direction. There is not a single show on television that has the pull, the intensity, or the cult that LOST has, and everyone here at Multiversity Comics is a HUGE fan of LOST (to the point we all went internet dark the night of the viewing so nothing would get spoiled).
With that being said, I knew that having a series of articles following the last and most intense season of LOST was a must for the site. And when thinking about it, I realized that LOST does have it’s foot in comic-dom. There’s the pilot episode, in which Walt reads an issue of Flash/Green Lantern: Faster Friends. There is Hurley’s reading of Y: The Last Man. Heck, Brian K Vaughan was a huge part of the writing staff last season, and Paul Dini has worked on the show as well. Heck, Watchmen is a confirmed influence on the writing staff of the show!

Again, with the Questions!
by Jon on Feb.02, 2010, under Analysis, Articles, For Fans
It’s like people think their important or something. I’m already on record about my feelings of answers and questions and questions about answers. But still they persist.
Dost not thy internets heedeth my voice?
Seriously, good write up in Jezebel about the LOST unaswered questions, and they keep it at an entirely reasonable and justifiable 42 (instead of that crazy 100 number someone else decided upon.
Lost’s Nestor Carbonell On His Famous Eyelashes and Soon-To-Be-Famous Pecs
by Tina on Feb.02, 2010, under Articles, For Fans, Interviews
The MovieLine interview
Written by Kyle Buchanan
Since Lost’s third season, Nestor Carbonell has popped up several times on the show as the mysterious, ageless Richard Alpert, but when the sixth and final season premieres tonight, Carbonell will finally join the cast as a regular. It’s a sign that Richard (who seems inextricably linked to the island’s mythology) is going to prove pivotal in revealing many of Lost’s big secrets, but it’s also a tribute to the ingratiating slow burn Carbonell’s managed while revealing hardly a thing about Richard’s true nature.
Movieline spoke with the actor yesterday about what’s in store for Richard in season six, what we can expect from a Richard-centric episode, the tragic origin story of his much-discussed heavy eyelashes, and his willingness to play Khan in a potential Star Trek sequel.
10 FAITH Reasons We Love LOST
by Scott on Feb.02, 2010, under Articles, By Fans, For Fans, Scott
As I type this we are less than fourteen hours away from season six. Fans are foaming at the mouth (some of us literally) to sink our teeth into the final season of TV’s greatest show. LOST fans are special. I must admit that this is the first time in my life that I have ever had a connection with fans of a show that is this strong (actually I’ve never even had any kind of connection before).
Unlike many LOSTies that I know, I am NOT a television fan. I don’t watch Fringe, or House, or 24, or Dollhouse, or…well…you name it. Honestly, I find that watching television, for the most part, can be a huge time waster in a world where real life is going on. And that brings me to my point. LOST somehow touches real life. We see characters struggling on the road to redemption and we are hopeful ourselves. We believe that our own struggles just may be worth it.
