WELCOME to LOST VIDEO ISLAND (Amy’s favorite LOST fan website)! LVI is a site devoted to LOST Vids — Fan-made videos created using clips from ABC’s LOST.  [History of LVI HERE].

Of the many cool things that LVI does, one of my favorites is its monthly contests. Each month, LVI issues a challenge to vidders and judges the submissions.  The First, Second and Third place winners are posted below.

LVI’s May 2010 Contest: Grant your long Lost wishes!

Vidders were challenged to create videos showing what THEY wanted to see on LOST by recreating their favorite theories.

“To show it, use any moment on Lost, flasback, flashforward, flashsideways, on and off the island through all of the seasons, even footage of the Losties in other roles!! Did you want to see Vincent as the Smoke Monster or had a favorite dead character whose life story faded and wanted to see more? It’s your call! Give us your theories!”

From the website:

A word from the curator:
The appearence of the polar bear was my favorite moment in the early episodes of Lost- it was so perfectly absurd and mysterious that it set the tone for the entire series. I’m loving this tribute to that moment and the dangers of the island!

Tell us the background of this design
Well I’m a huge LOST fan so it’s only natural that I’d create a design to honor my favorite show. Smoke the Bear like most of my ideas just hit me one day while sitting at my work station…I thought it would be awesome to dress this well know character as an “other” and add a few references to one of the coolest events so far, the Dharma purge. (*cough* shovel *cough*)
PS – I know it’s not a question but if you had to ask me what I’m most looking forward to in season 6 it would be the Richard Frickin’ Alpert episode! Somebody needs to explain to me how Luis from the sitcom Suddenly Susan became an immortal(?) island dweller…seriously!!

imageI wanted to do something a little random for the opening day of LOST, so I decided to have another little Annoying LOST fan contest (thanks go to the Onion for starting that meme) and on Friday I asked people to send me annoying tweets with the tag #LOSTblogMe and I’d pick a winner of whichever one I thought was in keeping with the tradition of ‘Annoying LOST fan’.  Friday night was a weird night, if you kept up with my Twitter feed you’ll know I was wiped most of the day on Saturday and didn’t get around to selecting a winner until Sunday night.  Here is the winning Tweet by the adorable and hardly annoying Jessica Underwood:

junderwood: @LOST_BOSS …becasue yes, I did say what you thought I said — “time traveling bunnies” #LOSTBlogME

The rest is Jessica’s wonderful interview.

LOSTblog: How long have you been watching Lost? If you’ve been watching since the pilot, can you remember your initial reaction to it?

Jessica: I was a late-comer to the LOST bandwagon. I caught the Season 5, Episode 0 program review on ABC when I was on the road for work. I was working on a sales consulting gig with an ABC station, so I was checking out their programming. And as luck would have it – the stars aligned – and I was hooked. I dove in pretty deep after that – watching 3 episodes a night until I caught up with the rest of the world. I was able to watch the Season 5 finale as it aired.

I’ve been told by my awesome executive assistant intern that I need to de-grumpify.  What better way to degrump than to talk about a contest. About LOST. On Facebook. Involving Art.

imageI know, rite? Totally AWESOME.

The publishers of the book The Gospel According to LOST by Chris Seay is running a social media blitz on facebook.  If you’ve been following my tweets, I won the first contest which included a copy of the book and a pair of Official Dharma Coveralls.  I haven’t entered any since, but this one is cool and there’s still time left to enter.

Here’s the deets:

  1. Become a fan of The Gospel According to LOST.
  2. Find the information for the Contest #7:
Design a new cover for “The Gospel According to LOST” and post it to the wall. We will choose the top designs and fans of this page will vote on the winner.
  3. I’ve quoted the details of the contest for your convenience below the fold

Remember this is a GATL contest on Facebook.  Not here.
