Even as beautiful as this print was designed, Tara McPherson‘s “Jin and Sun” still strikes a sober cord today. “The Candidate” (6.14) gave us an explosive end to Sayid, the possible death of Lapidus, and the subject of this print, the drowning of Jin and Sun Kwon.  Conversations following the episode airing and around the office water-cooler the next day were contentious and trying for LOST fans.

Tara was kind to give The Lost Blog an interview where she describes her concept for the print thusly, “I wanted to capture the feeling of everything swirling away, so by going with the circular motion I think it helps enhance that and also alludes to the dualities that lie in relationships. The power struggles. The poster can also be turned any orientation, which is important to the swirling concept, and also adds to the weightlessness of the characters being underwater. I tried to keep a melancholy feel because it’s such a sad moment, but to have it be an idealized beautiful last moment capturing the last kiss they will ever share . . .

A remarkable print from a remarkable artist.

The signed and numbered print, measuring 24 x 18 inches, uses hues of blue, black and metallic silver on white stock.

This print is available for purchase at Damon, Carlton and a Polar Bear.
